For A Moment

This plea
Marks a new beginning
In the book called life
That I am living
For too long
I've stood in the black
Hoping to somehow come back
To where the old season ends
And where the new begins
And I have lived for this moment
That I could behold a new generation
Of a time that holds no corruption
Living anew despite human affliction
This lie
Marks the end of a nation
In this world
I once claimed as my own
But I'm forgetting now
All the pain and agony
Stripped of my body now
I've been separated from this old man
Brought into the beauty of new life again
And I have lived for this moment
That I could behold a new generation
Of a time that holds no corruption
Living anew despite human affliction
And the Christ that stands in white raiment
Arms open wide across the great divide
Now offers his hand so warmly
To a sinner such as I
